Overview

Instagram Monitoring lets you track hashtags and business profiles on Instagram directly from Trigify. Monitor what people are posting about specific topics or keep tabs on competitor profiles, all feeding into your existing social listening workflows.

Instagram Monitoring is currently available as an Early Access feature. It is free to use (0 credits) during the Early Access period. To enable it, go to Settings > Early Access and toggle on Instagram Monitoring.

Requirements

To use Instagram Monitoring, you need:

  • An Instagram Business Account or Instagram Creator Account

  • That account must be connected to a Facebook Page

  • Instagram Monitoring enabled in Settings > Early Access

Personal Instagram accounts are not supported. Your Instagram account must be a Business or Creator account linked to a Facebook Page. If you need to convert your account, Instagram provides a guide in their settings under "Switch to Professional Account".

Enabling Instagram Monitoring

  1. Navigate to Settings > Early Access

  2. Find Instagram Monitoring in the feature list

  3. Toggle it on

  4. You will see a confirmation: "Joined Instagram Monitoring early access"

Once enabled, two new source types appear when creating a saved search: HashTag Monitoring and Profile Monitoring.

Hashtag Monitoring

Track Instagram posts that use specific hashtags. This is useful for monitoring industry conversations, branded hashtags, event hashtags, or competitor campaign tags.

Profile Monitoring

Track new posts from specific Instagram business profiles. Use this to monitor competitor accounts, partner brands, industry influencers, or your own brand profile.

Creating an Instagram Saved Search

Hashtag Monitoring Setup

  1. Go to Listening > Searches and click the + button to create a new search

  2. Name your search and select HashTag Monitoring as the source type

  3. Click Next to proceed to the Connect Instagram step

  4. Click Connect Instagram Business to authorize Trigify via Meta. This redirects you to Meta to approve access.

  5. Once connected, add the hashtags you want to monitor in the search configuration

  6. Review your settings and confirm to create the search

Profile Monitoring Setup

  1. Go to Listening > Searches and click the + button to create a new search

  2. Name your search and select Profile Monitoring as the source type

  3. Click Next to proceed to the Connect Instagram step

  4. Click Connect Instagram Business to authorize Trigify via Meta

  5. Enter the Instagram username you want to monitor and click Validate to confirm the profile exists

  6. Review your settings and confirm to create the search

You only need to connect your Instagram account once. After the initial connection, Trigify will use the same authorization for all your Instagram searches.

Using Instagram Data in Workflows

Instagram posts from your saved searches feed into workflows just like posts from other platforms. You can use a New Post Trigger linked to your Instagram saved search, then apply any workflow actions: enrichment, filtering with If Conditions, sending to CRMs, or triggering outreach sequences.

Limitations

Instagram Monitoring is in Early Access. The following limitations currently apply:

  • Only Instagram Business and Creator accounts are supported (not personal accounts)

  • The Instagram account must be connected to a Facebook Page

  • Credit cost may change when Instagram Monitoring moves out of Early Access
