Overview of Workflow Triggers

Complete overview for all your needs

Every workflow in Trigify starts with a trigger. Triggers tell Trigify when to run your workflow, so configuring them correctly is one of the most important steps in workflow creation.

Available Trigger Types

In Trigify, you can start a workflow with any of the following trigger types:

Manual Execution

Run a workflow on demand whenever you choose.

New Post Created

Fires when a new post is detected from one of your social listening searches (e.g. Reddit, YouTube, X, podcasts, The Business Network).

Signal Created

Activates when a custom signal you’ve defined is generated (e.g. competitor feature launch, customer buying intent).

Webhook

Start a workflow when an external system sends data into Trigify via webhook.

Scheduled

Run workflows on a set schedule (e.g. every morning at 9 AM, or once a week).

Multi Post Trigger

Triggered when a new post is found from multiple saved searches of the same source and type.

Scheduled Trigger

Runs workflows on a recurring schedule (daily, weekly, or monthly)

Adding a Trigger

When you create a new workflow, the first step is to select a trigger.

Click "Add Trigger" in the workflow screen and choose from the available options.

Each trigger comes with its own configuration panel where you can:

  1. Choose the trigger type (manual, post created, signal created, webhook, or scheduled).

  2. Apply filters to narrow down when it should fire (e.g. only trigger on posts containing a specific keyword).

  3. Preview matching events so you can confirm the workflow will only start when you want it to.

One-off research analysis.

Troubleshooting Triggers

If your workflow isn’t firing as expected, check the following:

  1. The trigger is turned on.

  2. The event occurred after the trigger was enabled.

  3. Any filters are set correctly (use the preview to double-check).

  4. The trigger type matches your intended outcome (e.g. “Signal Created” vs. “Post Created”).

  5. For webhooks or integrations, make sure the external system is still connected.

  6. Check the Logs for any errors that may have occurred

If everything looks correct but the workflow still isn’t firing, it may be a temporary issue with a connected integration. Trigify will automatically retry and notify you if errors persist.

Pro tip: The most powerful workflows come from pairing listening triggers (like Post Created) with action steps (like sending an alert, enriching a lead, or creating a ticket). Start simple, then layer in complexity as you go.
