Listening vs Workflows
New to Trigify? This article breaks down the two core concepts you need to understand: Listening and Workflows. Once you get the difference, everything else clicks.
Listening = Finding Posts
Listening is your data source. You set up keyword searches or track specific profiles, and Trigify finds matching posts across LinkedIn, Reddit, X, YouTube, and Podcasts.
Think of Listening as a search engine that runs continuously. You define what you care about, and Trigify surfaces relevant posts as they appear.
Track keywords across multiple platforms
Monitor specific LinkedIn profiles or company pages
Search subreddits for relevant conversations
Find mentions in podcast transcripts
Note: Listening only finds posts. It does not filter, enrich, or take action on them. That is what Workflows are for.
Workflows = Acting on What You Find
Workflows are automations that process the posts found by Listening. They take raw posts and do something useful with them: filter with AI, enrich profiles, push data to your CRM, notify your team in Slack, and more.
Filter posts with AI Agent nodes
Enrich LinkedIn profiles with email and phone data
Push qualified leads to HubSpot, Salesforce, or Attio
Send Slack notifications for high-priority signals
The Analogy
The Typical Flow
Set up Listening - Define your keywords, profiles, or topics
Posts appear - Trigify finds matching content across platforms
Create a Workflow - Set the trigger to
New PostAdd nodes - Filter with an Agent, enrich profiles, push to your tools
Publish - Your workflow processes every new post automatically
Common Confusion
Warning: The most common mistake new users make is trying to do everything inside Listening. Listening only finds posts. If you want notifications, CRM updates, or AI filtering, you need a Workflow.
Another gotcha: if you set up Listening but never create a Workflow, posts will appear in your dashboard but nothing happens with them automatically. Connect a Workflow to put your signals to work.
