Setting Up Social Listening Searches

Social Listening Searches are how you tell Trigify what conversations to monitor. They're the starting point for uncovering signals across platforms like Reddit, Business Network, YouTube, X, and more.

By setting up a search, you can:

  • Track competitor mentions

  • Detect buying intent

  • Discover emerging market trends

  • Monitor customer sentiment in real time

Step-by-Step Start Guide

Step 1: Setup a Social Listening Search + Pick Source

Name Your Search
Give your search a clear, descriptive name so you can identify it later.

Examples: "Reddit – Competitor Mentions" or "Business Network – Buying Intent"

Pick the platforms that matter most for your business:
Reddit, YouTube, X, Podcasts, or The Business Network

Set up searches for topics, keywords, or competitors to start capturing the conversations that signal opportunity

Step 2: Build Your Query with Boolean Operators

Define exactly what you want Trigify to look for using Boolean logic:

  • AND → All keywords must be present.

  • OR → Any keyword can be present.

  • NOT → Exclude specific words.

Examples:

  • “CompetitorX” AND “new feature” → Finds posts about CompetitorX launching a feature.

  • "Looking for recommendations" OR "Which tool should I use" → Detects buying intent.

  • “Sales automation” NOT “job post” → Excludes irrelevant hiring posts.

Note: You don’t need to add @ handles or tags. Trigify finds content based on the keywords you enter.

Note: Can’t proceed off keyword step? Please make sure you are clicking enter to input and save they keyword. Just typing your keyword will not save it.

Step 3: Set Your Time Frame (Lookback Period)

Decide how far back Trigify should look for posts:

  • Last 24 hours

  • Last week

  • Last month

  • All time

This ensures you’re monitoring the right window of activity.

Key Info: Every time your search runs it will look back over this time frame.

For example, if you set for your search to run daily with a 7-day look back period. Each day it will look back over the last 7-days for new posts.

Step 5: Define Maximum Results

Choose how many posts to fetch per run (e.g. 100).

Each post costs 1 credit per post, so setting a reasonable limit helps you balance coverage and credit usage.

Step 6: Choose Frequency

Tell Trigify how often to check for new posts:

  • Daily

  • Weekly

  • Monthly

  • Quarterly

Enterprise users only: Hourly updates are available on the Enterprise plan. This is ideal if you need to catch high-value signals as soon as they appear (e.g. competitor launches or urgent PR mentions).

Step 7: Save & Run Your Search

Once configured, your search will appear in the Saved Searches panel. From here you can:

  • See net new results since the last run.

  • Filter results by date range.

  • Jump between multiple searches with ease.

Why This Matters

Social Listening Searches power everything else in Trigify. They generate the posts and conversations that flow into your workflows, agents, and signals. Getting them set up correctly ensures your automation runs on high-quality, relevant data.

Pro tip: Start broad with a few keywords, then narrow down using Boolean filters once you see the preview results. This helps you avoid missing important signals while you refine your search.
