Special Characters in business network URLs

Special Characters in business network URLs

Running into issues with business network URLs that contain special characters? Here's what you need to know.

The Problem

Some business network profile URLs contain special characters like accented letters, hyphens, numbers, or unicode characters. These can sometimes cause issues when:

  • Pasting a profile URL into a profile monitor

  • Using a business network URL in a workflow

  • Entering profile URLs for monitoring

How to Handle Special Characters

Step 1: Use the Exact URL from a business network

  1. Go to the business network profile you want to monitor

  2. Copy the URL directly from your browser's address bar

  3. Paste it into Trigify exactly as copied

Do not manually type or modify the URL.

Step 2: Check for Extra Characters

Sometimes copying a URL picks up extra spaces or characters. Before pasting:

  1. Paste the URL into a plain text editor first

  2. Check for trailing spaces or hidden characters

  3. Make sure the URL starts with https://www.example.com/profile/ or https://www.example.com/company/

  4. Remove any query parameters after the profile name (everything after a ?)

Step 3: Use the Profile's Simplified URL

  1. Go to the business network profile

  2. Look for the profile's custom URL (usually visible under their name)

  3. Try using that simplified version instead

Common URL Formats That Work
